Kura is a Local Government Area situated in the central-southern part of Kano State, in the North West geopolitical zone of Nigeria. The LGA spans an estimated area of 206 square kilometres. It shares boundaries with several other local government areas, including Dawakin Kudu to the north, Bunkure to the east, Garun Mallam to the south, and Madobi to the west. The landscape is primarily characterized by the Sudan Savannah ecological zone, providing fertile, arable land that supports extensive wet and dry season farming.
Economy and Agriculture
The economy of Kura Local Government Area is heavily dependent on agriculture, which serves as the primary occupation for the vast majority of its residents. Kura is nationally famous for its commercial rice production, a commodity often referred to as 'Kura Rice' in Nigerian markets.
