History and Administration
Fagge Local Government Area (LGA) was created in October 1996 by the military administration of General Sani Abacha. It was carved out of the larger Kano Municipal Local Government Area to bring administration closer to the rapidly growing metropolitan population. The administrative headquarters is located in the Waje district. Fagge is divided into several electoral wards, including Fagge A, Fagge B, Fagge C, Fagge D, Fagge E, Kwaciri, and Rijiyar Lemo. The local government council is headed by an elected chairman who oversees the day-to-day civic administration and public service delivery.

Geographically, Fagge is situated within the bustling Kano metropolis and covers a relatively compact land area of approximately 21 square kilometres. The local government area experiences a semi-arid climate, characterised by distinct wet and dry seasons with a pronounced hot period from March to May. According to the 2006 national census, Fagge had a population of 198,828, though this figure has grown significantly due to rapid urbanisation. The population is predominantly composed of the Hausa and Fulani ethnic groups, who mostly practice Islam. However, its status as a commercial centre has attracted a diverse mix of Nigerians from various geopolitical zones, contributing to a vibrant cosmopolitan environment.
