Geography and Location
Ogo Oluwa Local Government Area is situated in the northern part of Oyo State, falling within the Ogbomoso administrative zone. It borders Ogbomoso South to the north, Surulere to the west, and Oriire to the east, while it is bounded by Osun State to the south. The landscape is primarily comprised of tropical savannah, providing a fertile environment for various agricultural activities. The climate features a distinct rainy season from April to October and a dry season for the remainder of the year.
Administration and Governance
The local government is administered from its headquarters in Ajaawa, which serves as the political and central hub of the district. It is divided into ten administrative wards that facilitate local representation and the delivery of public services. Governance is overseen by an elected Chairman and a legislative council, who are responsible for local infrastructure, primary education, and community health. Notable towns and settlements within this administration include Ajaawa, Iwo-Ate, Odo-Oba, and Otamokun, each contributing to the cultural and social fabric of the LGA.
Economic Activities
Agriculture is the mainstay of the Ogo Oluwa economy, with the vast majority of the population engaged in subsistence and commercial farming. The region is productive in the cultivation of staple food crops such as yam, cassava, and maize, alongside cash crops like cashew. Markets in towns such as Odo-Oba support local trade within the LGA. In addition to farming, local industries include small-scale processing of agricultural products and traditional craftsmanship.
