Degema Local Government Area is situated in the riverine belt of Rivers State within the oil-rich Niger Delta region of Nigeria. It is bounded by the Sombreiro River and intersected by numerous creeks and waterways. The terrain is predominantly mangrove swamp forest, which heavily influences the local climate and biodiversity.
