Akamkpa Local Government Area is situated in the southern senatorial district of Cross River State, covering a large landmass that extends to the international border with Cameroon. It is bounded by Odukpani to the west and southwest, Biase to the west, and Yakurr, Ikom, and Etung LGAs to the north. The terrain is characterized by undulating hills and dense tropical rainforests, which constitute a significant portion of Nigeria's remaining primary forest.
