Geography and Climate
Obanliku is situated in the northeastern corner of Cross River State, sharing an international boundary with the Republic of Cameroon. The landscape is dominated by the Oshie Ridge of the Sankwala Mountains, which creates a unique high-altitude environment rarely found elsewhere in Nigeria. This topography results in a temperate climate with cooler temperatures, particularly on the plateaus which sit over 1,500 meters above sea level. The area is characterized by rolling hills, deep valleys, and lush vegetation that transitions from rainforest to montane grasslands.
Economy and Agriculture
The local economy is predominantly agrarian, supported by fertile highland soils and a favorable climate. Tourism and Landmarks
The Obudu Mountain Resort, formerly known as the Obudu Cattle Ranch, is the most prominent landmark in the LGA and a major national tourist attraction. It is known for its cable car system, while the nearby Becheve Nature Reserve features a canopy walkway. The area also includes several natural features such as the Grotto and the Holy Mountain. The resort was originally developed in 1951 and has since undergone various upgrades to become a hub for eco-tourism and international conferences. The scenic beauty of the area attracts hikers, birdwatchers, and holidaymakers from across West Africa.

Obanliku is home to several distinct ethnic groups, including the Becheve, Bendi, Bishiri, Busi, and Utanga peoples, each maintaining unique dialects and customs. The social structure is organized around traditional chieftaincy institutions that preserve local heritage and govern communal affairs.
