The Federal Ministry of Youth Development designs programmes for youth skills, employment, entrepreneurship, leadership, and civic engagement, recognising that more than 60 percent of Nigerians are under the age of 25.
It supervises the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), the Citizenship and Leadership Training Centre, the National Centre for Women Development interface on young women's programmes, the Nigerian Youth Investment Fund (NYIF), and the National Youth Council of Nigeria.
Strategic priorities include the Renewed Hope Nigeria Youth Academy for digital and vocational skills, expansion of the Nigerian Youth Investment Fund for MSME finance, the National Youth Policy 2024–2028, NYSC reforms including a green-camp initiative and direct-deployment improvements, and youth participation in governance through the Not-Too-Young-To-Run framework.
