The Federal Ministry of Tourism promotes Nigeria as a destination, supports heritage sites and the hospitality industry, sets standards for hotels and tour operators, and grows domestic and international travel.
It supervises the Nigerian Tourism Development Authority (NTDA), the National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism (NIHOTOUR), and works with the National Council for Arts and Culture, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, and the Federal Ministry of Art, Culture and the Creative Economy on cross-cutting destination marketing.
Strategic priorities include the National Tourism Master Plan, strengthening domestic tourism circuits in destinations such as Obudu, Yankari, Idanre Hills and Olumo Rock, hospitality-skills certification through NIHOTOUR, public-private partnerships for resort development, and easier visa and entry processes to lift Nigeria's share of African tourist arrivals.
