The Federal Ministry of Niger Delta Development is responsible for development interventions, infrastructure, environmental remediation, and youth empowerment across the nine oil-producing states of the Niger Delta region.
It provides supervisory coordination over the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), the Presidential Amnesty Programme for ex-militants, the Hydrocarbon Pollution Remediation Project (HYPREP) interface for the Ogoni clean-up, and the East-West Road project under the Ministry of Works.
Strategic priorities include completion of the East-West Road, accelerated Ogoni clean-up, skills and entrepreneurship support for Niger Delta youth under the reformed Amnesty Programme, electrification through the regional power initiative, environmental restoration in oil-impacted communities, and transparent disbursement of the 13 percent derivation principle envisaged by the Constitution.
