Regulates mining, licensing and geological surveys through the Mining Cadastre Office, the Nigerian Geological Survey Agency, the Solid Minerals Development Fund and the Mines Inspectorate Department.
Minister: Sa'idu Ahmed Alkali
The Federal Ministry of Transportation coordinates national policy for road, rail, inland waterways and intermodal transport, including safety, infrastructure, and integration with Nigeria's logistics corridors.
It supervises the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC), the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), the Nigerian Institute of Transport Technology in Zaria, the Maritime Academy interface, the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria, and joint oversight with relevant ministries on the Federal Road Safety Corps where transport policy intersects.
Current priorities include completion of the Lagos–Ibadan, Abuja–Kaduna and Warri–Itakpe rail corridors and extension to Kano, Maiduguri and Port Harcourt; the Lagos–Calabar coastal rail; revival of inland waterways for cargo; standardised vehicle inspection through VIO reforms; and a national transport policy linking ports, rail and roads under the One Logistics Corridor concept.

Provides policy direction for the Immigration Service, Correctional Service, NSCDC, the Federal Fire Service and the Citizenship and Business Department, including marriage and naturalisation.

Designs programmes for youth skills, employment and civic engagement, supervising the NYSC, the Citizenship and Leadership Training Centre and the Nigerian Youth Investment Fund.
