The Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy oversees telecommunications, broadband infrastructure, digital identity, postal services, innovation hubs, startup policy, and Nigeria's participation in the global digital economy.
It supervises the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), Galaxy Backbone, the Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST), and Universal Service Provision Fund interventions.
Current priorities include the Strategic Blueprint covering knowledge, policy, infrastructure, innovation and trade; the 90,000 km national broadband fibre project; the Three Million Technical Talent (3MTT) programme; implementation of the Nigeria Startup Act; and broader rollout of the National Identification Number for financial inclusion and service delivery.

Drives national housing policy, urban renewal and mortgage finance through the Federal Mortgage Bank, the Federal Housing Authority and the Renewed Hope Cities programme.

Administers Abuja and the FCT under section 299 of the Constitution, exercising state-level powers over land, planning and municipal services through the FCTA, FCDA and AGIS.

Drives generation, transmission, distribution and electrification policy through TCN, NERC, the Rural Electrification Agency and the Electricity Act 2023 enabling state electricity markets.

Regulates the workplace and industrial relations and promotes employment through the National Directorate of Employment, the National Productivity Centre, the Industrial Arbitration Panel and NSITF.

Sets policy for basic, secondary, technical and tertiary education, supervising UBEC, the NUC, NBTE, JAMB, WAEC, NECO, TETFund and the new student-loan scheme through NELFUND.

Designs programmes for youth skills, employment and civic engagement, supervising the NYSC, the Citizenship and Leadership Training Centre and the Nigerian Youth Investment Fund.
