The Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy oversees telecommunications, broadband infrastructure, digital identity, postal services, innovation hubs, startup policy, and Nigeria's participation in the global digital economy.
It supervises the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), Galaxy Backbone, the Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST), and Universal Service Provision Fund interventions.
Current priorities include the Strategic Blueprint covering knowledge, policy, infrastructure, innovation and trade; the 90,000 km national broadband fibre project; the Three Million Technical Talent (3MTT) programme; implementation of the Nigeria Startup Act; and broader rollout of the National Identification Number for financial inclusion and service delivery.
