The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory administers Abuja under section 299 of the Constitution, exercising the powers normally held by a state governor over land, urban planning, municipal services and security coordination in the capital.
The portfolio is delivered through the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) and its secretariats covering Education, Health, Agriculture, Social Development, and Area Council Services, alongside the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA), the Abuja Geographic Information System (AGIS), and the Abuja Investments Company.
Current priorities include enforcement of the Abuja Master Plan, completion of long-delayed district roads and the Abuja light rail expansion, urban renewal and waste management, satellite-town infrastructure upgrades, and revenue mobilisation through land titling and property reforms.
