Geography and Location
Ohaji/Egbema is situated in the southwestern part of Imo State, sharing administrative boundaries with Rivers State. It is characterized by its tropical rainforest vegetation and a network of rivers and creeks that form part of the Niger Delta basin. The area's topography is relatively low-lying, which contributes to its rich alluvial soil suitable for varied agricultural activities. Its location in the southwestern corner of the state, bordering Rivers State, positions it as a key corridor between the Imo hinterlands and the coastal Niger Delta.
Economy and Natural Resources
The region is widely recognized as the primary oil and gas hub of Imo State, hosting numerous flow stations and pipelines operated by multinational corporations. The area hosts significant gas reserves, including the Assa North–Ohaji South gas development.
