Askira/Uba Local Government Area is situated in the southern part of Borno State, sharing borders with Adamawa State to the south and southwest, while also bordering other Borno Local Government Areas to the west. The region is characterized by a landscape that transitions from the savanna of northern Nigeria to more mountainous terrain near the borders.
