Geography and Location
Bayo Local Government Area is positioned in the southern part of Borno State, sharing administrative boundaries with Kwaya Kusar, Biu, and Shani. It also shares borders with parts of Gombe State to the west, which influences its regional trade patterns. The terrain is largely characterized by savannah vegetation, with Sudan–Guinea transition characteristics in parts of southern Borno, featuring fertile plains that are highly conducive to large-scale cultivation. The climate follows the typical patterns of Northern Nigeria, with distinct wet and dry seasons that dictate the local agricultural calendar.
Economy and Livelihoods
The economic mainstay of Bayo is agriculture, with the vast majority of the population involved in crop production and animal husbandry.
