Geography and Location
Idemili South is situated in the heart of Anambra State, sharing boundaries with Idemili North to the north and Nnewi North to the south. The landscape is characterized by tropical rainforest vegetation and undulating hills that define much of the Igbo heartland. The Idemili River, which gives the LGA its name, flows through the region, providing a natural water source and influencing the local topography. Its strategic location places it between the major commercial centers of Onitsha and Nnewi, making it a critical transit corridor within the state.
Economy and Trade
The economic profile of Idemili South is a mix of agricultural production, small-scale manufacturing, and commerce. Residents are extensively involved in the cultivation of palm oil, yams, and cassava, which serve both local consumption and trade in nearby urban markets.
