The Federal Ministry of Women Affairs advances gender equality, women's empowerment, protection from violence, and programmes for girls' education and economic participation across Nigeria.
It supervises the National Centre for Women Development, the National Commission for Persons with Disabilities (NCPWD) interface, the National Council for Child Rights Implementation, and gender desks across MDAs. It also coordinates Nigeria's reporting under CEDAW and the Maputo Protocol.
Strategic priorities include the Nigeria for Women Project (NFWP-Scale Up) with the World Bank, full domestication of the Violence Against Persons (Prohibition) Act and the Child Rights Act in remaining states, expansion of the Sexual Assault Referral Centres, the National Gender Policy implementation framework, support for women's entrepreneurship, and tackling out-of-school numbers for girls in northern Nigeria.

Promotes Nigeria's heritage, museums and creative industries — film, music, fashion, design and gaming — through agencies such as the National Council for Arts and Culture and the National Gallery of Art.

Leads policy on environmental protection, climate response and biodiversity through NESREA, NOSDRA, HYPREP, the National Park Service and Nigeria's Climate Change Department.
