Sports Development

Promotes grassroots and elite sport, supervising the National Sports Commission, the National Institute for Sports and federal stadiums, and supporting national federations such as the NFF.

The Federal Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology funds research and development, supervises the science agencies, supports technology transfer and patents, and links universities and industry to drive innovation-led growth.
It oversees the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI), the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA), the Sheda Science and Technology Complex, the Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC), the National Biotechnology Research and Development Agency, and the Nigerian Council for Management Development of Science and Technology.
Current priorities include indigenous manufacturing of solar components, electric vehicles and CNG kits through NASENI; commercialisation of biotech crop varieties; expansion of Nigeria's satellite programme; an STI roadmap aligned with Nigeria Agenda 2050; and stronger IP protection through partnership with the Trademarks, Patents and Designs Registry.

Coordinates the federal budget, the Medium-Term Expenditure Framework and Nigeria's national development plans, supervising the Budget Office, the Bureau of Statistics and NISER.

Promotes Nigeria as a destination, supports the hospitality sector and sets standards through the Nigerian Tourism Development Authority and the National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism.
