The Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction coordinates disaster relief, social safety nets, poverty-alleviation programmes, refugee and IDP support, and humanitarian assistance in conflict-affected and disaster-prone areas.
It supervises the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons, the National Social Investment Programme Agency (NSIPA), and the North-East Development Commission interface for humanitarian response.
Strategic priorities include the National Social Register, the Conditional Cash Transfer programme, the Renewed Hope Cash Transfer for vulnerable households, the Investment in Digital Economy and Almajiri reform programmes, coordination of internally displaced persons' return and reintegration, and rebuilding public trust through stronger audit and disclosure of beneficiary lists.
