Promotes grassroots and elite sport, supervising the National Sports Commission, the National Institute for Sports and federal stadiums, and supporting national federations such as the NFF.

The Federal Ministry of Interior provides policy direction for paramilitary services and citizenship matters, including immigration, civil defence, fire response, prisons or corrections, and marriages and naturalisation.
It supervises the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), the Federal Fire Service, and the Citizenship and Business Department which handles marriage registry and expatriate quota administration.
Strategic priorities include the Expatriate Administration System and Expatriate Employment Levy framework, modernised passport issuance and contactless renewal, the Correctional Service decongestion and rehabilitation programme, the Marriage Registry digitisation, expanded fire-service capacity in state capitals, and reform of the visa-on-arrival regime to improve investor mobility.

Manages federal revenue, expenditure, debt and fiscal policy through FIRS, the Customs Service, the Debt Management Office, AMCON and the Nigerian Sovereign Investment Authority.
