Yewa North is situated in the western part of Ogun State, sharing an international boundary with the Republic of Benin to the west. It is bordered by the Imeko Afon Local Government Area to the north, Yewa South to the south, and Abeokuta North to the east. The terrain is characterized by a mix of tropical rainforest and derived savannah vegetation, making it suitable for diverse farming activities. The local climate is typically tropical, featuring distinct wet and dry seasons that influence the regional agricultural cycle.
Economic Landscape
The economy of the local government area is predominantly driven by agriculture, with the majority of the population engaged in small to medium-scale farming. The local government area was formally established in 1976 during the nationwide local government reforms in Nigeria. In the mid-1990s, the name was officially changed from Egbado North to Yewa North following a successful campaign by the local traditional councils to distance the community from the historical 'Egbado' label. The administrative headquarters remains in Aiyetoro, which serves as the primary political and commercial hub. Governance is managed through a council system consisting of elected ward representatives and an executive chairman.

The population is largely composed of the Yewa people, a sub-ethnic group of the Yoruba nation with a rich heritage of traditional crafts and spiritual practices.
