Egor Local Government Area is situated in the south-western part of Edo State and is one of the local governments that comprise the Benin City metropolis. It shares boundaries with Ovia North-East Local Government Area to the west and north, Oredo Local Government Area to the south, and Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area to the east. The terrain is largely characterized by tropical rainforest vegetation, though significant urban development has replaced much of the natural flora. The area experiences a humid tropical rainforest climate with distinct wet and dry seasons, typical of southern Edo State.

The administrative headquarters of Egor LGA is located in Uselu, a town of historical and political significance in the state.
