Geography and Location
Shongom Local Government Area is positioned in the southern part of Gombe State, sharing borders with Billiri, Kaltungo, and Balanga LGAs, as well as Taraba State to the south. The terrain is characterized by a mix of plains and hilly landscapes, which are typical of the Guinea Savannah region. The area experiences distinct wet and dry seasons, supporting a variety of natural vegetation. Most settlements are clustered around the administrative center of Boh and other various rural districts.
Economy and Livelihoods
The economy of Shongom is predominantly driven by subsistence and commercial agriculture due to the fertile soil and favorable climate. Farmers in the region specialize in the cultivation of staple crops such as sorghum, millet, maize, and groundnuts, which are traded in local markets.
